Without politics: how did National Geographic photographer Dean Conger see life in the USSR

The American Dean Conger became famous as one of the best photographers in the history of National Geographic and as a person who traveled the entire Soviet Union in the 60-70s. Then he visited each of the 15 Soviet republics with the goal of showing Western society the most authentic appearance of local residents, conveying their character, depicting everyday life and lifestyle, without going into political nuances.

In 1977, a book was published entitled "Traveling in Russia, the Soviet Union today." It includes photographs taken by Conger from 1966 to 1975 and accompanied by the text of journalist Bart MacDowell. Here are the most eloquent pictures from this collection.
