Norway stands an incredible highway pipeline that will pass under water

Almost the entire European Aalborg-Trondheim motorway called E-39 passes through Norway. Outside this country there is only a ferry crossing through the Skagerrak Strait and a small stretch of road located within Denmark. This is one of the most beautiful highways in the world, passing along the picturesque western coast of Norway with its amazing fjords and rugged coasts. In order to be able to cross numerous fjords, on the highway, in addition to bridges, there is a network of ferry crossings. But you can enjoy the magnificent Scandinavian nature on the road to Trondheim only in the warm season, but in winter, traveling along the E-39 turns into a real test and takes much longer. To solve the problem of constant snow drifts and ferry delays due to bad weather, the Norwegians are going to build a grand tunnel that will duplicate the Kristiansand - Trondheim route, but pass under water.

Due to the difficult terrain and the large number of bays deep in the land, the highway with a length of more than 1000 kilometers is often interrupted by ferry crossings. In addition, westerly winds blowing from the harsh North Sea often bring snowstorms that cause kilometers of traffic jams. Therefore, the Norwegians came up with the idea of creating an underwater analogue that would reduce the time spent on the road and ensure uninterrupted car traffic between coastal Norwegian cities.

The Norwegian government has already approved the project budget, which will amount to an impressive 47 billion dollars. Currently, work is already underway on the construction of the first section of the underwater highway that will connect the cities of Stavanger and Haugesund. This road will pass into the sea at a depth of 390 meters, which promises to break all existing records. Here's how it would look:
