What flight attendants check when they greet each passenger

If we look into history, we will find out that initially there were no flight attendants on board the aircraft, and the co-pilot was engaged in the passengers. But gradually, people realized that this was very unsafe, and it was decided to add another person to the crew - a steward or a stewardess. The duties of this person include servicing guests flying on board, maintaining cleanliness, explaining where is located, as well as various minor technical work. However, its main role is responsibility for safety in the cabin. To help stewardesses, a whole system was developed to help them cope with this difficult task. So, for example, when they stand at the entrance to the plane and personally greet each passenger - this is not a simple sign of courtesy, as you probably thought, but an extremely useful measure that allows you to collect the following information:

Firstly, the flight attendants pay attention to the physique of men, because if an emergency occurs and physical assistance is needed, they will immediately know who to turn to and where they are sitting.

Flight attendants are always informed if an aviation worker will be present on their flight. Their faces are also important to remember, because if necessary, you can turn to them for help.

It is important for the stewardess to pay attention to the condition of each passenger in order to identify in advance drunk or those who are unwell.

In addition, they pay attention to potential aerophobes. According to the behavior of a person at the moment he enters the plane, stewards can very accurately determine whether he is afraid to fly.

It is also important to assess the severity of the guest’s hand luggage. This is necessary in order to immediately come to his aid, load baggage into the compartment as soon as possible and not delay other passengers and, most importantly, the flight.
