New United Nations Population Projections Report: what awaits Russia and the rest of the world

The UN regularly publishes reports on the demographic situation on Earth and closely monitors the number of people in different countries of the world. This is important not only for updating statistics, but also for making long-term development forecasts, which are impossible without an accurate idea of the future population of key countries. The predictions made, in turn, affect the adoption of various international humanitarian programs and projects designed to help the world's poorest countries suffering from overpopulation.

According to UN experts, by 2050, 9.7 billion people will live on the planet. If we take into account that today 7.7 billion people live on Earth, in the next 30-plus years the growth will be an impressive 2 billion. India, Pakistan, Indonesia, the USA, as well as a number of African countries - these are the countries of the world whose the population suffers from unemployment, hunger and acute social problems. A further increase in the population in these countries will exacerbate existing problems and increase the wave of illegal migrants.

China has exhausted its potential for rapid growth, and soon (already by 2027) India will catch up with it and surpass India in terms of population, becoming the first in the world. China, due to the demographic policy of containing birth control, has acquired a number of social problems associated with a large number of citizens of retirement age and the imbalance of male and female population. Despite the fact that today the policy of containing birth control has already been canceled, the country will experience the consequences of severe birth control for decades.

Africa is a region where high rates of population reproduction are still maintained. Do you know where Nigeria is? What does this country live with, what is the basis of its economy? But in this African state live more than 200 million people! This is more than in any other country in Africa, and it is precisely Nigeria, according to experts, that will maintain its leading position in terms of population growth. Despite the fact that today the life expectancy in this country does not exceed 48 years, experts predict an increase in the number of Nigerians to 700 million by the end of this century. Other African countries that make a significant contribution to increasing the world's population include Egypt, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Ethiopia.

At the same time, the number of states is growing, whose inhabitants are becoming less and less every year. Alas, among them, along with many countries of Eastern Europe, is Russia. Experts predict a further decline in the number of inhabitants in these states. It is caused by both a low natural population growth and an active outflow of the population to other countries. As for Russia, several variants of the demographic scenario are presented. According to the worst forecast, by 2050 in our country there will be no more than 125 million people, and even in the best case, there will be a little more than 147 million Russians.
