China produces artificial rice with plastic and supplies it to neighbors

The Internet is filled with numerous articles and videos about artificial rice, which is produced in China. The first alarm sounded by experts from South Korea, who caught producers from the Middle Kingdom in the supply of fake rice. It was synthesized rice, which was sold under the brand name "Wuchang." The variety of this rice is considered the most valuable and therefore expensive in the East.

According to some researchers, China has actually launched rice production using synthetic materials, and this "food" has already begun to penetrate the country. This is not surprising, because China is the largest rice producer in Southeast Asia and its exporter.

The basis of artificial rice grains is starch, a completely harmless substance, but the shell, which is designed to keep its shape, is made of plastic. And then this miracle of Chinese technologists goes on sale in its pure form or in a mixture with rice of natural origin.

However, experts not only warn about the appearance of such a dangerous product, but also offer several ways how to distinguish a fake.

Visual inspection Synthetic rice has a suspiciously flat shape.

It is necessary to heat a spoon with several grains of rice. Synthetic rice will burn, emitting an unpleasant smell of plastic.

Soak the rice in a glass of water. Rice of natural origin settles almost all at the bottom. But if rice floats on the surface, this may indicate that it was not grown in the field.

During cooking, artificial rice forms a layer of sediment at the bottom, apparently due to the fact that its synthetic shell begins to deteriorate from contact with water.

Of course, seeing incredible shots where the rice grains first melt, form a white spreading mass, and then light up, I also wanted to check the rice that I have at home. Two types of rice "took part" in my experiment: brown unpolished rice and ordinary round-grain white rice. Both of them did not melt, but simply caught fire after heating over a gas burner. At the same time, the smell of burnt grass was felt. Charred grains crumbled into powder upon touch.
