In China, build a luxury hotel in an abandoned quarry

Shanghai is completing the construction of Songjiang InterContinental Hotel. He is famous for the fact that most of it is underground. The building is being built in a huge pit of the former quarry.

The builders have already erected the main building and showed how the standard rooms will look. The hotel is expected to open to visitors in May 2018.

Expectation

The hotel is being built in an abandoned quarry 90 meters deep. It is assumed that on the surface of the earth there will be only two floors. The main part of the building will occupy the space inside the quarry, and two floors will be completely made underwater. There will be several suites for guests, a restaurant and an aquarium 10 meters deep.

Reality

The underground hotel will have 370 rooms, spacious public areas and conference rooms for up to 1000 people. Songjiang InterContinental Hotel is positioned as a sports and leisure spa resort. Guests will be offered climbing or bungee jumping. The highlight of the hotel will be a waterfall that will drain from the highest point of the quarry right in the center of the building.
